I'm loving Mean Red Spider - really hope Spoon adds it to their live show.

Odd question here, but does anyone know where Brit got the jacket he's wearing on the cover of the single? That's a really cool looking jacket.

Thanks, Tyler! I have the 7" but my USB turntable is in storage, so now I have "Mean Red Spider" on my iPod sooner than I thought I would!

I bought the UK version of the Got Nuffin single/ep (the 7" vinyl). I chose that version over the CD or the US 12" vinyl because I heard it was a limited edition thing. I'm thinking about getting the 12" someday, just because I like to collect stuff.

Your welcome prawn. Glad it worked ok.

I just bought got nuffin on cd. I LOVE vinyl but the ep/single is really oly 2 songs. I was kind of disappointed with tweakers (2 times). I didn't think it needed to be on a 12". A waste if you ask me. So the cd was 4.99 and the 12" was over 10 bucks I think.

I dunno maybe I was wrong? I just didn't think got nuffin had enough content for a solid 12".

Thanks Tyler for Mean Red Spider, it's certainly interesting compared to the album material. I just got the single in the mail today, it was a little scuffed at the top but oh well, the pink vinyl is really nice and I'm glad Merge threw in some extras.

I bought Got Nuffin on 7" for those who are asking about it. Mostly because its limited to 300 copies in this format, and I really love collecting Spoon's 45s. It's quite a challenge to find the earlier ones though.

It's different but I love the track!!!!

My copy was scuffed at the top too. I was also disappointed that it didn't have an inside sleeve to protect the vinyl more. But I could never be mad at merge.....

Thanks for 'Mean Red Spider' Tyler. I see what you mean about the volume - I normalised it and re-saved so it matches other stuff.

The volume issue seems a bit amusing considering that after looking at Spoon's music in Audacity, there's a fair bit of compression and clipping already applied, and that is certainly still present in the vinyl. Only ASoS and probably the original issues of Telephono and Soft Effects are reasonably free of excessive clipping.

Most music is. I'd love to hear the original analog recordings, before it was digitalized. Most of Spoon's recording gear is analog.

Yeah, most bands ought to offer pre-compression/clipping versions, it'd be nice to hear music that breathes properly.

I re-ripped 'Mean Red Spider' here. Made the master louder so it will sound better. Sorry it took so long.

I wish Mean Red had made it onto the LP. Thanks for posting that Tyler. Gonna burn that song along with my digital download of Transference (vinyl) onto a cd for the car!

    Yup that's what I did!

But I agree. Or I wish people who bought the 7" inch got an exclusive digital download. Cuz taking time to rip and EQ it sucks because I don't feel it will ever be as good as what a alt. mp3 version would sound like. But at least it's only one song!

Thanks for the new rip Tyler, now I can listen until I find a replacement turntable.
