Already a favorite song of mine.
Seriously, it just sounds so...chill. I dunno, the shit works!
It really makes me uber-excited for the next record.

Is it "Who Makes Your Money" or "Backs"?
I thought it was "Backs" before too but my setlists from Monday and Tuesday say who "Who Makes."
It's definitely "Who Makes"--see the following interview:

I would have sworn somebody posted a recording, but I can't find it. Has it turned up anywhere yet where I can listen to it?
EDIT: Nevermind, I found the Hollywood Bowl show on Dime a Dozen. Unfortunately my university doesn't allow torrents so I'll have to wait until I'm home next weekend to download it..
Where is this song you speak of?
Okay okay, my bad. It's called "Who Makes Your Money"...I could've sworn I read somewhere otherwise. Meh.
Phenomenal, awesome song. Can't wait for the next album.
You can download a really good soundboard version of this song and 'Written In Reverse' here: archive.org: Spoon at the Fillmore
I dig it, but it seems a little mainstream. It doesn't have the darkness or depth. I can't explain it. I loved Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga but there was something different about it. It didn't feel as heavy as their previous work but it was enjoyable. Now I feel that if this is the direction they're going then it's going to be a lot lighter of music and maybe a little rushed. Nothing bad about being lighter it just doesn't feel as personal.
^
I disagree, I don't necessarily think that it's a sacrifice for the music to be "lighter" that it's less personal. There's something really endearing and confessional about the lyrics on Gax5 ("I humanize the vacuum", "I had a nightmare nothing could be put back together", etc.), but maybe I'm missing what you meant by "as heavy as their previous work"?
The song just has that upbeat tempo and something that could be a top 40 station. Something John Mayer would sing. It doesn't have the heavy guitar and piano.
It's not bad it's just different. Which is good! Their style is just changing.
Ugh. Maybe it's the excessive drinking I did last night, but hearing Spoon compared to John Mayer makes me want to vomit.
actually I'm started to think Spoon is a lot like Wilco. The way Britt delivers is similiar to Jeff Tweedy! OMG it would be amazing to see Spoon and Wilco on the same ticket. I've seen both in concert and I must say Wilco knows how to entertain. It's an evolved feeling of joy! off topic? I know...
maybe wilco is a better comparison.
Off-topic, yes. But I don't know if I'd go out of my way to see a Spoon/Wilco ticket. Woof to that.
Anyway,
Who makes your money?
Who's got that right?
Who's gonna be there to take that bite?
Some try to relax, some try to know,
Some try to get there with no place to go!
