I know it's a little early (well not really, it's 3 months away), but is anyone going?

I'm sorry....I live in Wisconsin. Lolla an Summerfest are all I've been to. My grandparents live in Texas. I love the Texas Longhorns....Texas is hot, it's dry, it's big, George Dubya is from there, umm it's hot.....don't want to bore you on my knowledge of Texas. Haha Ok yeah so it's a huge festival that costs 600 dollars or more? It seems cool! But I liked getting front row to see Spoon at summerfest for $15 :)

Well wristbands are $160 (ish) and you don't even need that because they have a shitload of free shows during the day and each artists plays like 5x's throughout the whole fest. If you miss them one day, you can catch them another.

What I like about it is that there is a lot of FREE SHIT you can get (i.e. shirts, bags, BEER, food) and when your walking down the streets of Austin, you see the artists just trotting along enjoying the vibe of the city.

it sounds really cool. I really enjoy Texas a lot. I have never been to Austin before. My grandparents live near Houston. It sounds like a nice March break. It'll prob still be snowing in WI

Hey, Tyler...I'm sure you know this, but the band is playing their New Year's Eve gig in Milwaukee. Going?

Yes I knew this....I started the NYE gig thread....
Unfortunately I can't. I always go see relatives in MN during New Year's time. At first I thought my family wasn't getting together, since we just had a reunion this summer, but it turns out we are. So I really hope Spoon adds more dates to their tour....or come back to Summerfest for the third time in a row :) . What makes it worse, is I live literally an hour away

oh Cheap Trick are hopping on the bandwagon to Austin along with Neon Indian, The XX, Califone, and Midlake. Free shows are always the best especially on the shores

I've enjoyed SXSW for the past few years, but I have never bought a wristband. I just go to all of the free shows and walk around downtown to get free stuff. :) It's awesome.

well pixie, Spoon will be headlining the NPR stage on March 17th at stubbs!

You should also attend the in store performance on the 25th. I'll be there that's for sure.

I will be SXSW-ing with 5 of my friends. We are really hoping to catch Spoon but it doesn't look very likely. They are doing that Stubb's show which I guess is a showcasing show. But We won't have wristbands or badges. WE are doing a lot of free shows and pay at door shows. We are coming in form Houston, South Carolina, and California and you must be an Austin Resident to get wristbands unless you show up at Waterloo at the ass crack of morning the 16th and pray to god they have some extra bands they are selling at 185$ a pop. Also, after the 17th Spoon has tour dates listed, so they won't be able to stick around to do multiple shows unless they do them all the 17th or before like the 16th.

The last time I did SXSW they played the big stage at Auditorium shores. That was a blast! The crowd was awesome!

Help! It's been a long time since I've been to SXSW. Saw Spoon back at some 20th century SXSW shows, but am a little confused about how to navigate all of it now. Does it seriously cost $595 per person to catch the music stuff?

I'm driving in, not flying, but am not an Austin resident. Can anyone give me the lowdown?

    :)

  19. So only Austin residents get the wrist bands? It costs more for everybody else?

Here's another question - if I buy a wristband, do I also need to buy tix to the Spoon March 17th show? Or is that show one that accepts wristbands?

The Spoon thing will probably be fucked up, unless you have a badge and you get there early!! Wristbands don't really mean shit with big named artists!
