I am a huge fan of Spoon, and just saw them live for the first time at summerfest in Milwaukee (July 01 09). I got front row, waited about 8 hours.....anyway, wondered if anyone else saw them there? They played a great gig, but I had nothing else to compare it to. Others said it was a great improvement from some of their other gigs, saying that sometimes Brit's voice in the past wasn't too good live. Is this true? I thought the gig was amazing!!!

Yes you should! Unfotunately I've had new years plans, since last new years already! :( But yeah I did just see them, so I'm not too heartbroken. But I'm sure they'll play some from their new LP, which would be cool to hear live before the album hits.

I was there with my friend Nate. We drove out to Milwaukee from Chicago and I agree, they were great. That chick band before them was pretty annoying, though.

I saw spoon for the first time in 1995 at the Mercury Cafe with GBV. They immediately caught my attention. At the time I was a huge Pixies, Wire, Television and GBV fan. I think there might have been 20 people at that first show. For GBV there was prolly 100 people. Total badass show. Over the next 5 years I saw spoon a handfull of times in Denver, Boulder and Austin. Still nobody coming out. Best Spoon show ever was in support of the "SOS" album. Britt bein heckled the whole show , about how "Waitin for the kid" is their only good song. Finally Britt screams at the dude "You wanna play guitar MotherF@#$er?". I guess he didn't cuz he finally shut up. . . Prolly only 15 people at that show. Indie Rock in the 90's wasn't that cool unless you had a flannel

That must have been awesome to see. Everyband starts in a way similar to that. People liking them, or disliking them. Today no one at a Spoon show ISN'T into it. It's impossible not to be! I would have killed to see them back then! when they were really trying to prove themselves. I admire Spoon's determination and work ethic. Being "indie" is a lot about hard work, and that's something Spoon has always done!

I was there. Was my fist Spoon show. I had the same reaction I've heard from a lot of people: they are almost TOO good live. I don't know if that makes any sense, but they are almost mechanical in their perfection. I think maybe I wanted some rough edges or a little more of a "reveal." That probably makes no sense.
