Guys. When I die, I want Mystery Zone played at my funeral with an accompanying light show. Make certain it happens.

I fit's it included in your will, your family will HAVE to obey. But I can make sure they do too. That is a really fantastic song. One of my favorites definitely.

I still haven't gotten my vinyl yet. I bet it shows up when I'm out of town.

This past weekend, when I found out that mail wouldn't be delivered Monday because it was MLK Jr day (and therefore the soonest I'd have TRANSFERENCE would be Tuesday evening), I downloaded the leak. I really like it. I LOVE "The Mystery Zone" and "Nobody Gets Me But You."

But I still want my vinyl NOW so I can listen to it properly. I'm tempted to just go and buy it at Waterloo and then give my pre-ordered copy to a friend when it shows up. Yes, I am very impatient... But (not counting the "Written in Reverse" 7") my last three pre-orders from Merge have showed up the Friday before the Tuesday release date (or sooner), so I was expecting to have TRANSFERENCE in hand no later than yesterday. The waiting is killing me!

Also, on the leak I downloaded, "The Mystery Zone" is 4:59, so it looks like the vinyl version is almost a minute longer, which excites me-- I can't wait to hear it!

You know what? Just play Transference in its entirety at my funeral. I do believe it's taken the #1 spot on my list of favorite Spoon albums.

That piano flourish in Nobody Gets Me is one of my favorite moments on the album. It's the part that sets me grinning. That whole song starts off herky-jerky and then it magically morphs into a Prince/LCD Soundsystem-kinda song by the end.

I agree, it is different on the vinyl, but I have no way to prove it as I have no way to post the vinyl version.
I also noticed the mp3 of Trouble Comes Running is just called Trouble...
I forgot they were on Conan last night, but one of my coworkers told me this morning about it, and how much he liked them on there, so he was going to get it on vinyl...
I'm off to watch them on Mr. OBrien now...

Mystery Zone is 51 seconds more on vinyl! I just compared the track times for the vinyl download to the CD rip and all other tracks are just about identical. An interesting treat for vinyl fans. 'Buying Records In Record Stores Is Cool' the cover proclaims - I only wish I could.

Got my copy of TRANSFERENCE today! Actually, it had been in my apartment office for awhile (with a few other packages of mine). The new postman has been neglecting to put notes in my box whenever I get packages. I'm excited to finally have it, and I love the longer vinyl version of "The Mystery Zone"!

Something must have happened when you uploaded the mystery zone tyler, cause its actually less time then the cd version, and its cutting out right when the guitar solo starts.

Can someone tell me what's going on with "The Mystery Zone"

I bought the CD and imported it to iTunes and it's 4:59 and it obviously cuts off. The version on iTunes Store is 4:59 too. Is there something wrong? Do you think this got screwed up at the mastering stage?

    Will the CDs be recalled?

i had something weird happen to me -- i was listening to mystery zone and it seemed to go on a *little bit* longer than the other times i had heard it ... it was like maybe 5 additional seconds of just drums and then it cut off quickly, but not so abruptly as all the other times i listened to it. i tried listening again and again and again and never heard the longer version again. i wonder if it was mastered in a way that the end of mystery zone got tagged on as the "ghost" beginning of the next track?? you know how when it counts up to zero from negative numbers? i can't confirm this obviously, cuz i wasnt' looking at the track time on my ipod the ONE TIME i heard (or thought I heard) the longer version.... VERY WEIRD!!

Ok I'll try making the mp3 file a bit smaller. Let me try again. Sorry I have no idea why

LingeringPet, I'm glad you said that: It makes me feel less crazy. When I was still listening to my torrented version of TRANSFERENCE, I swear there was a few times "The Mystery Zone" DIDN'T cut off mid-word (this includes the first time I listened to it). The only times this happened was while listening to the whole album in iTunes. Listening to the whole album on my iPod, it would cut off mid-word. Listening to the song on its own, it would cut off mid-word. Very strange.

    That IS a mystery! Haha

Well I'm glad the new link. I don't think the cd will be re-called no. I think the track is meant to be that way. A mystery.

it's cool to hear that full version -- thanks Tyler! it's not anythint groundbreaking or totally revelatory, but it gives me more of a sense of completion, so it's good to hear and have that version on my ipod. i love the new album -- especially "who Makes your money" and "out go the lights" -- they have a "paper tiger" vibe to them. kind of dark and reflective and minimal

The part where Britt says his "oooo awe ooo" in "who makes your money" reminds me of the It's always sunny episode where they sing the Night Man Cometh. "IF you only knew what I'd do to you ooooo awe"

Forgive me, it was a random connection

I love Is Love Forever? And I love Trouble Come Running. Right now, those are the two I'm listening to over and over, although that's partly because I had already listened to Got Nuffin a million times last fall, and then heavily played Written in Reverse when it was released as a single. I love Spoon albums because they unfold themselves ... so there are many favorites waiting to be discovered. These guys, eh? The best. Can't wait for the March 17th show.

I love trouble comes running. I like the lo-fi sound of it. It's a brilliant song. Mystery Zone keeps getting better for me. I listen to it, and like it, then listen again, and love it. It just keeps making me want to re-listen. Very very great album.
