it's all good crab.
That's my main gripe with Spoon. They can't suck, it pisses me off sometimes. haha
I love the piano parts and I really hope Eric Harvey gets to play the Piano, Britt better not steal it when or if they play Goodnight Laura. I also hope they add a real piano on this tour. Harvey deserves a killer piano solo.

I've been watching this board for some time and finally decided to make an account and post.
I agree with drop dead ed. They can try to suck and it will still be gold. But I must say my favorites are:
Before Destruction
Who Makes Your Money?
Out Go The Lights
Nobody Gets Me But YouI still like Written in Reverse and Got Nuffin, but I've listened to them a solid hundred or so times in the past month that I guess I'm more excited about whats truly new.
Goodnight Laura is a nice song. It seemed weird to have Britt crooning a ballad, but it works. Thats just the Spoon magic I suppose.

Loving this record... WAY different from the last two. I appreciate how this band evolves with each release. They don't get enough credit in that department.
Who Makes Your Money and I Saw the Light make quite an impression.
I'm particularly happy with Goodnight Laura --> Out Go the Lights. Great stuff.
The whole thing is perfectly sequenced, as always.
Stellar production, as always.
Can't wait to listen to it on the turntable.
I apologize for my fragmented stream of consciousness. That's just how my thoughts come out.

No worries Vitt.
Who Makes Your Money is an early favorite for me, but they are all good...I need to listen to it on a different format. I like that it's streaming but I don't like that I'm not necessarily focusing on it, or the names. Stupid internet...or, stupid me...whichever.Posted 13 years ago # -
I agree internet stream is NOT the ideal way to listen to music......4 more days till I get my hands on my record! 4 more days! 4 more days! 4 more days! I'm very excited

I'm listening to the NPR chat thing they had this morning- it was pretty funny and it answers some good questions about the album: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=122572715
(And they answered my question around the 30 minute mark of this thing! Crazy.)Renee @ http://fuckyeahspoon.tumblr.comPosted 13 years ago # -
Yeah that was a great interview, and I got my question answered as well
Mine was the one about Before Destruction. It really made my day

Just received my vinyl copy of the record. Rejoice!
Now if I can just get a ticket to that LA show...
Posted 13 years ago # -
I asked a few questions, but mine was grouped on with the others about having a producer, vs. self-producing it. That was a very cool interactive interview.
Vitt-
That's awesome! So the vinyl isn't orange?I think we have the same record player though. Is that a Denon?

Oh good god......
I went on a walk down town, just for fun, and because it was nice out. I walked into the record store to chat and browse. and THEY HAD TRANSFERENCE ON VINYL! The store always gets things in early, but I didn't think they'd get it today! I'm so pumped. I'm downloading the mp3s as we speak. The record is so so so good. How fortunate I was to get it early! Very unexpected. I will now go in to work all day this coming TuesdayPosted 13 years ago # -
I was really hoping I'd get my copy of the vinyl in the mail Friday or yesterday, but I didn't. I really, really hope it doesn't show up a week after the release date. I'd be very bummed out about that!
Posted 13 years ago # -
I'm hoping they posted mine early as I'm overseas - they have in the past. Maybe it'll come on Monday.

I knew it wasn't going to be orange!! I was I hoping to be wrong......my dream for an orange vinyl has been crushed, only left with pink marble. It was too goo to be true
Posted 13 years ago # -
:( I know I wanted it to be orange...yes the pink marbled single is nice though. I knew 'ASoS' and 'Girls' were colored vinyl. But I do think the back vinyl is fitting for Transference.
It's really great album though. I listened to it about 4 times this last weekend. My favorites out of the new songs (excluded Got Nuffin, Written in Reverse) are "Mystery Zone" "Trouble Comes Running" and I really like "Goodnight Laura". There is something beautiful and tender about it. Haven't heard a lullaby that good in a long time. The more I listen to it the more I like it.

The CD is orange lol. I really like Transference so far, it wasn't as immediate as Ga x5, but it has a lot hidden in the depths of the music.

So, apparently Mystery Zone doesn't cut off then? I've been listening to a leaked version of the album (which I thought was ripped from the NPR stream) and now that I have the vinyl, it's different. There's no cut off at the end. Glad to finally have this beauty in my hands.

Got my hard copy in the mail from Merge today! They included the Transference poster, the "WIR" pink button, and a Merge bookmark. Pretty sweet deal
"Mystery Zone" has the sexiest bassline I've heard in a long time. And I'm still madly in love with "I Saw the Light", "Trouble Comes Running", and "Out Go the Lights".
Spoon really hit it out of the park with this one.

Picked up the CD tonight. Love it! Who Makes Your Money and Trouble Comes Running are my faves, so far... If you're like me and like to lay on the couch and read while you listen, the full lyrics come with the CD.

Chunge - Myster Zone does cut off on the CD. Not sure about the vinyl. I'm totally confused as to why the song cuts off so abruptly.
Posted 13 years ago # -
I thought mystery zone cut off intentionally... I thought it was kind of cool.
I've actually been starting up a project where I'm doing video reviews of all the albums i buy this year. My Transference review can be found here if you are interested in watching. Who knows, maybe I'll get it in the official links section of the site haha.

So, I got my record today in the mail, too.
I know many of you got the Written in Reverse single on vinyl...but I did not and I am AMAZED at how great it sounds. I want to turn it on full blast...
Mystery Zone ends quickly on the MP3 version (I am ripping them all right now) but I need to listen to the vinyl again so I can see if it does the same on it. I would guess so, but...
Speaking of ending abruptly, I always kinda giggle at the way Got Nuffin ends...that's it! Got Nuffin left of the song.Posted 13 years ago # -
I also bought the vinyl tonight! Got my wristband too, to see if I can get it signed by the man himself and check out the parking lot performance
Posted 13 years ago # -
Weird. Than the CD and vinyl are slightly different. The folder from the vinyl/mp3 download said "Transference (Vinyl)". Mystery Zone does not cut off on these mp3s.
Posted 13 years ago # -
Huh, so it's more common than you'd think. Death Cab's Narrow Stairs LP is also slightly different than the CD.
\"...back when you were nineteen/still in school/ and waiting on a light/on the corner by Sound Exchange\"Posted 13 years ago # -
well vinyls and Cd's are produced differently, and some bands tend to give more love and feel to the vinyl format.
Posted 13 years ago # -
Well if you didn't catch spoon on Conan last night here it is. Spoon is also one of the last bands to play for Conan on NBC.

would it be out of line to ask someone to post the version of mystery zone that doesn't cut off? if it's considered taboo, then nevermind. :p
Posted 13 years ago # -
I saw them on Conan (CoCo) last night! They were great! But I think Eric and Rob needed to sing backing vocals more. The chorus needed it. But as always they played great. I wished Jim would've dressed up like Jay Leno
Posted 13 years ago # -
Yes I do think the vinyls transitions are a bit better, but I can't compare it to the cd. Uhh I have the mp3 downloads form vinyl of Transference but I don't know if it's any different than yours? It doesn't cut out, it just stops abruptly. The length is 5:51. IS that different?
