the picture of the vinyl itself isn't orange in the store site, if that's any indication that Transference won't have a colored vinyl

Isn't that just the standard picture for vinyl? They always have a a picture of black vinyl creeping out of the cover, that way it differentiates between vinyl, and a CD. Otherwise it's just a square.

You'll adore Love Ways, Tyler. Chips and Dip is one of my fave Spoon songs. I love the arrangement...or something, I dunno, I'm no musician but that song is amazing.

I can not wait for the album. It was so hard listening to the host of All Songs Considered brag about how he has been listening to it non-stop. Now is the time I wish I was a music critic! I bet it will debut higher on the charts than GAGAGAGAGA. Cheers, for the best band around today.

    Nefarious-
I do adore "Love Ways"! I can't believe I never owned it until now! I know what you mean about Chips & Dip! it's a great great song! I've heard it before, along with Jealousy, but the other 3 I haven't heard before! I knew I'd like it since it was during the "Girls Can Tell" period since that's my favorite album. Now I own all the major EPs (Soft Effects, Love Ways, Home Vol. 4, Get Nice!, Don't You Evah & Got Nuffin) besides "Nefarious" and "30 Gallon Tank"! Which I want! But I have all the songs from them (digitally) but I want them on vinyl.

I love "Figures of Art", which no one seems to talk about. Very Rolling Stones-esque.

What about 'Change My Life'? Surely one of the best songs in the world ever... (only a slight exaggeration). Certainly one of my favourite Spoon songs ever.

It's just a smashing EP. From beginning to finish. "Change My Life" is an epic opener! Love the whole vibe of the song. Then you have the southern rock stomp feel of "I Didn't Come Here to Die". Then "Jealousy" a perfect piano pop song, and a great middle track for the EP. (Not shocking that "The Way We Get By" was on the next album). Then "Figures of Art" is a great, quick, "series of sneaks esque" rock song. Love the riff and lyrics. FIANLLY "Chips and Dip". Amazing song. Good closer of the EP, and of the best closers to any Spoon album I think. It's a very good EP. Gets a lot done in a little bit of time......now back to Transference :D

It's gonna be my favorite album, I think..... I can tell soley based on "Written in Reverse" and "Got Nuffin". Just love it!

Tyler that's a most impressive level of dedication! I'm saving my day off for the London gig and I've pre-ordered the vinyl LP.

I know my record store in town will get the vinyl in that morning. I live on wisconsin, and I would have been able to see them new years eve in Milwaukee! It's only about a hour from where I live. But I always go to minnesota to see family during holiday time :( so I will miss this tour... hopefully they'll add more dates

I love it when Britt says "shuck & jive" in Chips and Dip. It just sounds so bad-ass. Makes me wish I could shuck & jive.

Yes, he does say "Shuck and Jive" awesome. He's probably the only person who could sing those words and make it sound awesome.

Wow, I'm not gonna lie those clips have totally outdone what i was expecting. Who Makes Your Money sounds so good, theres just something about it that feels different from the live version. The album as a whole has more of a Girls Can Tell sound, darker and more emotional sounding. I love it

Question: If I have already pre-ordered Transference on vinyl, will the making-of video feature mentioned in the iTunes pre-order be included in the digital download I'll be getting?

I don't know for sure but previous i-Tunes bonus tracks have not been available elsewhere, for instance the song 'Deep Clean' came with GAGAGAGA. It never came out anywhere else. I managed to blag it off of someone as I have a bit of an i-Tunes allergy!

Yes the "itunes exclusive" items sadden me. I have never heard deep clean before :( The only Spoon song I ever bought on itunes was "My first time vol. 3" since it was digital only. And I just bought "Written in Reverse". But they were on my wife's itunes account. I don't even have my own.

I don't see the words "iTunes Exclusive" anywhere so I'm going to cross my fingers and hope for the best. I'll just follow Pete's shining example and "blag it off of someone" if I don't get it.

On a side note, even though I don't like iTunes, I do like that they included a Spoon song on their "Soul Revival" essentials list (bottom left of Transference screen). I think Spoon should be labeled !!!SOUL REVIVAL!!! instead of piddly indie rock.

Are all the itunes samples the album versions? I still think they are the demos....it just doesn't sound like it's the finished product. The opening track especially. And Got Nuffin sounds the same as it does on the single. The album supposedly contains a "fresh take" on the track.

I think you may be right. I'm positive that I am speaking too soon, but the sample songs lead me to think that Transference is going to be fairly stripped down (I know they hate being labeled as minimalist). I'm very intrigued about this (possibly) new approach though. Can't wait for January!

Yes I know what you mean. They've even admitted it's a basic rock record really. Which willo be great. Because no band can do good Rock 'n' Roll as good as Spoon can

it's hard to tell from those itunes clips what the finished album will sound like. some of the songs sound more stripped down, but i think there are definitely some more experimental tracks too. "who makes your money" sounds A LOT different from the version i heard them play live.

Is Got Nuffin the same version as the single? I thought I read somewhere that it's a different version. The itunes clip sounds the same as the single.

Trouble Comes Running sounds like a fine pop stomper.
