Words can't describe how excited I am for Spoon's new album!!! They moved it up a week, which will help a little bit, but I want it NOW!!!
I'm so excited I just requested off that morning for work! So I'll go into the record store that morning, purchase the vinyl, and go home and listen for as many times as possible!!! Is that too much? Well what can I say? I love Spoon. You love them too, that's why you're here.

    So....

Let me know predicitons on the new album? Could it be your favorite album already? This "Pure Spoon" Album is also without a producer. So it really WILL be PURE Spoon.

You don't have to answer my questions, you can just tell me how excite you are, on a scale from 1 to 100. Or whatever.......

I have a weird feeling this one will be more like KtM, I dunno why. Definitely should be a keeper!

That wouldn't be bad! That's a great album! I hope it Rock's like the Got Nuffin single. I like the raw energy of that song.

Yeah, I think it's the sparse tautness of Got Nuffin that's giving me the KtM vibe.

I hope Spoon does what they always do: change. It seems like every one of their albums has a different vibe, yet they are all uniquely Spoon albums.

I totally agree about the different vibe on each album. I've always thought one of the most important ingredients to a Spoon album is the production. Jim & Britt are both very talented producers.

I like the idea of taking the day off, Tyler! you are brilliant. I may have to do this, as well...

that's pretty hardcore. I'd save a full off day for a show. I really liked the first pair that got leaked "written in reverse" and "who makes your money"

"Spoon's new album, Transference, arrives January 19 in North America (via Merge) and a day earlier in Europe (via Anti-). You've memorized the tracklist and now you can stare at the cover. (Via Stereogum.)

After using a photo by Italian lensman Ugo Mulas for the Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga sleeve, the guys go with a shot by pioneering American photog William Eggleston here. The original shot, dubbed "Sumner, Mississippi, c. 1970", sold for a mere $86,500 at an auction last year, according to Christie's."

I for one am very excited about the album being produced by Spoon. Brit Daniel is a great producer. Has anyone heard the White Rabbits' "It's Frightening"? Phenomenal production.

I love it, it reminds me of a cross between "Merchants of Soul" and "My First Time Vol. 3".

EDIT: This was meant to be in the "Written in Reverse" thread - oops!

So far I've found no special goodies with any of the pre-orders. You can get a Transference T-shirt if you order with the band, but it does cost extra. If anyone finds something else, let me know

I like Percussion Guns. I also like Britt's work with Interpol when he did a remix of "Slow Hands"

I too am a little disappointed that there are no pre-order bonuses. I got a signed 7" last time!

I 'm very excited about the album being self produced! Jim and Britt's production work is great.

And yes I asked off tuesday morning so I can purchase and listen to the album, I took no chances! I want to hear it on release day.

And I completely agree about the "pre-order" issues. We deserve bonuses for our loyalty!

I was so close to pre-ordering the t-shirt/CD bundle from spoontheband.com, but the shipping details state that the t-shirts will ship on 12/15 and the albums will BEGIN shipping on or around 1/19. Now... I'd love me a sweet little Transference t-shirt, but I honestly don't think I can wait for this album one minute longer than I have to. I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas morning.

As an aside, the Merge Records shop has a pre-order available that will ARRIVE on or around 1/19. No bonus as of yet, though.

I agree. I don't like things getting shipped anymore. I've good and bad experience with sometimes things coming early, other times coming late. I know the manager at the record store in my town. He says he can get it to me late Monday night, or early tuesday morning. I hope to God I can get it ASAP! If people do pre-order hopefully you will get it early, but I'm fine with being 100% positive I'll get it ON release day!

Just pre-ordered the 7" and Spoon's 7th Opus. Also threw in the Anticipation 7" into my cart because I don't have it and I need SOMETHING to get me through December, what with me abstaining from sneak peaks and not being able to go to a Spoon show and all.

Tyler, was it you who mentioned something about pink vinyl? Was that a prediction or did I miss something?

it should be a white vinyl, seems too pinkish to have a pink toned album art and a pink vinyl. It would look sweeter in white. Maybe that should be the bonus for all pre-order'ers, a colored vinyl

Yes I mention pink vinyl! It says so on the Merge website "Written in Reverse" 7" comes on pink vinyl

    https://www.mergerecords.com/store/store_detail.php?catalog_id=686

My prediction is that the transference album will come on Orange vinyl. Why yyou ask? Because on the Spoon website, under the news section, Duex Duex wrote a blurb about the new album and said the album was different than other spoon albums for a few reasons. One of the reasons was "it's more orange". Just a prediction. It would look cool, with the cover having a few orange accents like the lamp shade and whatnot....just a guess.

and monkfish, I'm doing the same thing with a "order something to hold you over"....but mine is shameful. For being a huge Spoon fan I JUST ordered the "Love Ways" Ep. I've hear 3 songs off it, and love them. I should get it this week. Girls Can Tell is my fav. album and this Ep was right before it so I'm sure I'll love it.....don't judge me!

I didn't own "Love Ways" until this past year - I just had MP3s of a few songs off the EP so if someone throws a rock at you, it wasn't me.

I don't own one Led Zeppelin album. Not a one.

I should start a "Confessions" thread.

Yeah I just meant many people say "Love Ways" is a important part of the Spoon discography......and I just got it so now I have all their major EPs and studio albums.

Monkfish- I only own Led Zepplin II on vinyl, and the A side sounds pretty bad....but I think a confessions thread would be great...haha Indie rock confessions - "Forgive me father, I have sinned...I've never listened to the Grateful Dead" - my true confession.
