This seems pretty extravagant, even for me, but I just booked my flight to Vegas for the Thursday and Friday shows. Frickin' airfare is expensive when you don't plan ahead!

It's been four years since I saw the band last, and I'm not getting younger, so screw it, I'm going.

    Quite excited, obviously!

So if anybody here is interested in watching videos from those Vegas shows, I uploaded a bunch of them to my YouTube page. Here's a playlist of the videos: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-cWZPiSWxdCwahMkd10ekvJkeueEWbTe

You were there? I wish I would have known, I would have said hi and bought you a beer. I attended the Thursday and Friday shows. Maybe it was just because it was the first time I'd seen them in four years, but I thought the Thursday show was lots better than Friday. I was also right down front on Thursday...maybe that had something to do with it. I'm curious about your opinions on Thursday v Friday, and also how Saturday ranked.

@31starbright I am currently watching all the vids. Sound and video quality is really great. You have some crowd chatter, which is good, but it is in no way over powering. Great videography. That's a word. Don't spell check me.

@31starbright - These videos are so great, thanks for posting! Here's a really bizarre observation, though: did Britt lose a tooth?!

@jp - Yup, I was there! Sorry, I should've mentioned it earlier! I would've been happy to meet ya. I agree with you that Thursday was better than Friday. Even though I know the crowd was smaller that day, but I had such a blast. I met a lot of other long-time Spoon fans that day and we just kept freaking out every time they happened to play a song we were hoping to hear. I was right in front of Britt for that show, and I'm the one he asked on stage about what song I wanted to hear when they closed out their set (I asked for Jonathon Fisk). Friday was good too, and I think I liked their setlist more on that day versus Thursday's. (Setlists are here on my instagram in case anyone wants to see them: http://instagram.com/p/px6A51lVfQ/)Saturday was alright. You missed seeing Jim, Alex, Stephen, and Eric wearing these super tacky-REALLY Vegas style outfits that they all got at the gift shop at their hotel. I haven't finished editing photos from that one so I'll get to posting the links to those later too. I only say the Saturday show was alright because I didn't feel like the crowd was as good compared to the other two days. Oh, but one funny thing that happened during that one is that some guy kept on yelling for "The Minor Tough" and Britt told the guy they hadn't played that one in over six or seven years. But Eric told Britt to try to play it anyway, so they ended up playing about 9 seconds of it before Britt said he couldn't remember the rest. LOL. (I also have those 9 seconds recorded but didn't know if anyone wanted to see it or not) How did you like the shows? Isn't Alex such a wonderful addition to the band?

@Tyler Darling - Thanks so much! I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. I wish I could be a little bit more steady in holding my camera but I'm just relieved the audio came out ok in all of 'em.

@devilsdishes - Very good observation there! It looks like a missing tooth but it's not. He purposely did that for god knows what reason, it's Britt Daniel- he's weird like that.

  7. @31starbright - I just signed up to the board so I could thank you for recording and posting all of those videos. Thank you! I was there all three nights too, up front to the left, in front of Alex. I think I remember who you are because of where you filmed from, and I never noticed you filming at all. Nicely played! It's great to have some quality video and sound of the new material (and Ghost...that song made me a wreck all three nights).

So, on the first night, a marketing rep for Brooklyn Bowl was going around to some of us who were there early. He said the band were putting together a last-minute meet 'n' greet backstage before the show. I got to meet Britt, Jim, and Alex (not sure where Eric was). I got a picture with them and they signed my poster. They were also digging my Walkmen shirt, which was pretty cool. Good lads, all around. Ha, I always feel awkward in these situations, anticipating I'll say something stupid and make a fool of myself. I bumped into Alex before the show on the third night. I was surprised he recognized me (maybe it's the beard), but I thanked him again for coming to Vegas. We don't get bands like Spoon out here very often. Looks like the Brooklyn Bowl is out to change that, though.

I can't get that killer bass line in Outlier out of my head, and Knock Knock Knock may have been the highlight of the shows. For the first time in a long time, I'm excited about a new release. These were the first times seeing the band for me, and I must say it took me from being a longtime big fan into full Spoonmania super fan.
