Out go the Lights!!! Very cool track. The song has dirty guitars, and the backbeat almost sounds industrial. Very interesting demo. I like the vocal take on this a lot. But I think I like the original better. But this is definitely cool to have and listen to.

Really like the heavier bassline. The drum machine part sounds like how I would play drums on a good day
They eliminated that whole traffic/driving imagery from the album version. Interesting!

This is cool. I really like that Spoon started putting up these monthly bonus tracks again.

Me too is something totally different. I don't know a lot of bands that do that. Very cool, and keeps you interested in the band.
Pherron: You hear "Beady Eye" yet?

Not yet, but I've never been much of a fan of Liam Gallagher! Still I'll try and keep an open mind.

Oh that's cool voice or personality? I just really like his voice. I'm a huge Oasis fan, but live in the US so no one really pays attention to them anymore. I knew you were in the UK so I wondered if you heard them. It's different than Oasis. I like the song a lot. It has Jerry Lee Lewis style bashing piano, and female back up singers. Very 50's rock 'n' roll.

No one pays them any attention any more here either! I'll check them out. He does have a cool voice, I just got pissed off with all the media hype around the Gallagher brothers and their fights.

I feel like in the US, Oasis clearly won the britpop battle over Blur, but was it a little different in the UK? It seems like Blur was a lot more respected there.

Obviously I can't speak for a whole country, but I think Oasis were loud and brash and really it's a cliché, but we do often prefer the underdog here. Being over-confident and loud are personality traits that still tend to really jar the nerves of most British people. I guess that might be gradually changing with all the US culture we import - I'm an old git now so not much of a reference point for what's cool! Over all Blur are probably considered to have a longer shelf life, maybe a bit cooler, but Oasis did sell a lot more records here too, so I guess they were the most successful. Everyone seems to have moved on from both now - most teenagers aren't even aware of them I would guess.

I just realized that this demo really reminds me of Prince's album Sign O' The Times (mostly cuz of the programmed, unchanging drums and the gets-the-job-done instrumentation). Anybody else hear that?
