If this is the first taste of the new album, I'm already hyped.

It kind of reminds me of GCT, with a really strong Motown, blusey feel.

Good call on the GCT reference. Totally sounds like something from that album. I love the piano throughout and the breakdown when Britt sings "when you lose a bit of yourself." It also has some of that awesome "Beast and Dragon Adored" style guitar. Man, I'm excited.

I never thought I would say this but that is the worst song I've heard come from Spoon. Maybe if they polish it up a bit it might be good but fuck me it seems lazy and clunky.

It's got some sloppy parts yeah, but all their demoing material does, as the extras can attest to. It probably doesn't help that they probably don't have a perfected studio run yet.

    Still good stuff.

Wow... his vocals sound uncannily like Les Claypool at some parts.

Live Spoon is very different from recorded Spoon for me, but somehow his primal screams are my favorite part of the song.

I agree with TheDoctor, though, that it needs some polishing. It seems just jam-like right now.

i think it was a solo show where this song was recorded which explains a lot.

No this is from Spoon's show at the Pitchfork Festival. You can get a lossless version of the whole show on archive.org.

    Not a favorite.

Agreed on the sloppy, clunky feel to it. BUT, Who Backs Yr Money, now THAT is a song to get excited about!

I really like the sound of this. Took quite a few plays to get into it, but worth making the effort. Good stuff. I've put this copy of 'Writing to you in reverse' onto YouTube - check it out if you like at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SruT8u2SeQ

I'm pumped. Last time I saw Spoon was exactly 1 year ago in Austin at the SpoonX3 show at Stubb's. Actually got engaged that night while they were playing I Summon You. Can't wait to see them again this weekend.
