Bored at work, browsing the iTunes store, and there it was. Listening now, and I'm loving it so far.

    Have at it!

I love it - the clinical bass a la 'Small Stakes' and the stripped down drums in the middle like 'They Never Got You'. I also like the fact that it doesn't really go anywhere or have a structure - Spoon songs sound so good that they don't need to.

Could you be a bit more clear about what your talking about. I looked on i-Tunes but didn't see anything new.

Is it weird that I don't want to hear the final album versions of the songs before I receive my copy of Transference in January? When a band I'm crazy about releases an album, I have to listen to it from start to finish, alone, curled up in a ball on the couch, anxiously chewing on the tip of my thumb, probably even sweating a little, hoping to god that I will love it. Album sneak peaks don't jive with my musical OCD.

Pitchfork has posted the single on their home page for you normal people.

I know what you mean monkfishblues! I don't always like hearing tracks before the album hits. The Got Nuffin EP is an exception because the album version said it's a "fresh take" on the song. BUT I am kind of curious about hearing the new song. Especially because it's just sample mp3. Coming out of computer speakers. The song will sound nothing like the clean fresh 180 gram vinyl fresh from the package! Ohh I'm excited!!!

You have a point there, Tyler, but I'm going to see how long I can hold out.

    This is just like Lent!

I have not listened yet either, but I might soon. I just don't know. I'll probably wait till the week before it's release THEN listen to it. I have terrible self control. Like eating candy before dinner....it's sweet, but it just spoils my dinner :(

Most sources are gone (Merge have really closed this one down fast), but after a bit of Googling I found a couple:

So I guess iTunes Canada fucked up? The song's been removed from their store. Glad I grabbed it when I did.

I guess they did f up. I grabbed it as well, but I'm sure it's not a complete copy because I doubt it would cut off and start off like that. Hmmm...

random thought, but who are the admin's in this forum? I was just curious

That's how he knew to take the songs down off the internet, because he read these comments.

It is the full track. It's exactly as long as the announcement on the homepage says it is. It does end abruptly, but they've done that before.

I dunno, It doesn't seem like a correct ending and I'm not sure I've heard a song in their discography that ends like that either. I could be wrong.

If it is it would be cool if they could find a complimentary song to pair it up with for a quick transition, but Mystery Zone is kinda long for that I guess...maybe..

It might cut into another track, so the end on the track would not be the actual end when listening...?

yeah I'm pretty sure, and it's obviously going to be "who makes your money" hmmm...I tried it out with the live version I have. I'm not too sure about that gapless part.

I'm so glad I can change the "???". I have it labeled under album. This album has to be a contender for best album of 2010. Too excited

Yikes, that is pretty close. However, one important thing is that the melody is not sampled but rather the beat. Hard to stake claim to a beat.
