Worked for me, though I think the player widget is a little buggy. When I first "liked" it, it played OK, but it didn't display a progress bar or time. Also, it auto-repeated for me...I thought it was like an 8 minute song at first. Just looked again, and it loaded up fine and displayed the bar, though it's still auto-repeating. Guess it's supposed to.

    My reaction...eh. Needs guitar.

    here's a more accessible soundcloud link http://soundcloud.com/divinefits/01-my-love-is-real

I'm not convinced so far, I don't hear Britt in it. For all we know it could be a Handsome Furs leftover. I'm giving it more time though

I think Britt sings on some tracks, but not this one. This makes sense when you think Britt is a big fan of early Prince.

i dunno the drum beat and far-off synth sounds in the corners are vintage spoon. the abrupt ending very transference.

even the manner of singing seems to have some britt influence. The hitting of the consonants and the hammyness of the "my love is real" seems like something britt would do.(witness: is love forever) something about the knife in the water line too.
You think thats britt in the echoy backup vocals? around The "little black heart back" line.

sounds a lot like transference to me, for better or for worse. not so familiar with the handsome furs guys later stuff tho.

as a song.... its weirdly growing on me but. i have this issue with songs that use all vintage synths but don't do anything really new with it. this could have been an 80s single no problem. it doesn't bring anything new to the table, despite being rather catchy. theres nothing really challenging about it (thats an accusation people sometimes through at spoon, but id argue their sensibility was always super refreshing. I don't get that from this.)

Im sure britt sings in this band. I like the single. It actually took me a few listens to get it......Its says "My Love Is Real" until it stops. I didn't put it together. Just commenting how fleeting love can be ya know? I like the lyrics and songs. The Piano note drone is reminiscent of "Got Nuffin" as Eric plays those notes starting at 1:15.

Anyway if u know me I pre ordered the 7". Looking forward to hearing the b side "Born in a Laundromat".

Good to see album has a name, and release date. Proving this album IS real, and is coming soon.

They just released a second song with Britt on vocals called "Would That Not Be Nice" : http://soundcloud.com/mergerecords/divine-fits-would-that-not-be

I'll just be the first to say it. This song is fucking incredible. The album is called "A Thing Called the Divine Fits" and will be released August 28th via Merge. I'm actually excited now. Sad that we won't get a Spoon record for a bit, but still excited.

re: "how fleeting love can be" - This may be presumptuous of me, or I may just be a hopeful romantic, but I have to say that love, however it is defined, never dies. And whoever thinks that love does die has never truly experienced it. I am not saying that it can't take different forms, but I do believe that once the heart has been penetrated, "true/real/pure" love IS forever.

groovy bassline: check, maracas: check, guitar at just the right time:check. Britt's all over this track. I can see repeating this like I did got nuffin three years ago

this makes me a lot more excited about the album

uh... bump? These ads are super annoying. This board might be more frequented if there were a couple no_follow tags on it.

I am actually pretty excited about this. Like the other sentiments expressed around here, sad to not have any new Spoon any time soon, but VERY happy to hear some new Britt tunes! My Love Is Real is real catchy and cool, and that lil freak out sound thingy near the end of Would That Not Be Nice is awesome! Can't wait to hear this album in its entirety!

nice. i feel like spoon would have ended it at 3 but its nice it keeps groovin.

glad that this is upbeat and sounds like KtM. Transference was OK but too much of a bummer for me, I always liked the optimistic undercurrent of spoon.

Can't wait to get the 7" I pre-ordered. I believe I read that it comes with an mp3 download of both songs. That's the reason I didn't but the digital single right away. Would have loved that mp3 via email though because I want it NOW!

Would That Not Be Nice? is really great. It played out like a man hitting on a waitress at a roller skating rink in my imagination.
