I agree : merchants of soul is not only one of the best Spoon songs. It also sounds like a perfect ringtone

Interesting. I really like the song. My biggest complaint with it is I don't thinks it's a good closer for Gimme Ficiton. If you know what I mean? Many people said it was one of Spoon's worst songs on the "Worst
Spoon song" thread. But I disagree. I like the song too. But if it was in a different order on Gimme Ficiton the song would fit better. Actually I think my problem is with Gimme Fiction as a whole rather than one song. Love almost all the songs on the album, but I think it was arranged poorly. My opinion.Posted 6 months ago # -
I know what you mean, Tyler. It sounds weird, but Gimme Fiction is my least favorite album since Spoon signed onto Merge, even though a lot of my favorite songs are on that album. I just don't care for the arrangement; it feels choppy to me. But Merchants of Soul is a phenomenal song. I love listening to the demo of it that they release as a web bonus a year ago. They Never Got You's awesome too.

i don't have the demo of merchants of soul and would love to hear it ! I once heard about the fact that the Gimme Fiction tracklisting was supposed to be the other way round, meaning the record would have been supposed to open with merchants of soul, and finish with the beats and dragon adored. But I agree with kickingeapoe : my 2 favorites on gimme fiction are the two last ones

I agree with the Gimme Fiction, or maybe it's just cuz it's my least favorite Spoon album...but I do really love some of those songs on there!
