    Hey Everyone!

I'm going to my first Spoon show in a week and a half at Summerfest in Milwuakee, and I was just wondering what everyone's experiences have been like with meeting the band after shows. Do they eventually come back out by the stage to meet fans or do you have to track them down by their bus? How easy is it to get a setlist? Will someone give one to you if you wait long enough?

Drop me an answer if you get a chance! Thanks!

I've never done it. I remember back in 06 Britt held a solo show at the Parish in Austin. He was standing across from me watching the opener. I don't remember who they were, but one of them was Pink Nasty. I didn't say a word to him and regret it haha.

Unless you've got some type of VIP pass and you can go backstage or something, I don't think it's easy to meet any band at a festival unless they're doing an autograph signing.

I've never tried getting a setlist during a festival either. The distance between the front rail/barricade and stage at a festival can be so wide and roadies/stage crew can be such dicks about giving fans setlists, guitar picks, drum sticks etc. But if you're going to try waiting to get one, you'll have to be patient and persistent for one.

I've been kinda lucky with getting Spoon setlists for the past couple of shows I've gone to, but those have all been regular headlining shows. I hope it works out for you! Either way, I'm sure you'll have an awesome time watching Spoon.

I met them for the first time at Summerfest (07) that was right before GAx5 came out. Now they're pretty blown up. But if you wait around for a while they most likely will come out to meet the fans. I've been to three concerts and each time they've made it out for pictures and what not. They might not now though, like I said they've been busy.

    UPDATE:

Well, the concert last night was amazing! And I just wanted to let you all know that the band did come out to greet fans after the show. A group of us waited along the rail right after the concert, and about 10 minutes later Jim Eno came out, closely followed by Britt. They signed all of our stuff, and talked with us for a long time. So, I don't know how a regular gig goes, but it looks like the band does indeed reward the persistent at festivals.

Nice to hear jonnyb. Personally, I don't make a habit of bothering artists as they get hounded all day...having said that, I have talked with Britt on several occasions during the late 90's in Portland. The entire band came over and sat at my table at a very small club, EJ's, after opening for Swervedriver. Easy going, funny, and just all around nice chaps. Glad to see that you weren't let down.

I met Britt back in Oct when they came to Ft. Lauderdale.

I did see him roaming the streets of Austin when I went to SXSW. I was sitting on the curb on 6th and Red River and looked across the street and saw him. He's tall -- some chicks were taking pictures with him.

    :D

Oh my god!! I saw them for the first time at Summerfest 09 too! I waited like 8 hours along with this other guy to get front row. I was front row and center stage! If I'd only known I would have totally stayed to meet them :( Well that's good for you though!

I envy your front and center seat Tyler. We got there about 6 hours early, and had perfectly clear dibs at the second row, but decided for some stupid reason to nab the 3rd. Well, wouldn't you know it, all kinds of annoying teenagers showed up to take the 2nd row and ended up standing on the bleachers, blocking our view the whole night. If we had grabbed the 2nd when we had the chance, we would have had a crystal clear look along with you guys. Oh well.

    Still a great show though!

Yeah it's summerfest. Everyone stands on the bleachers. So You should either try to get front row, or be really tall. We got some really good pictures. But you met the band! That's pretty cool. I had a few cd's with me too. Thought it'd be cool to get them signed. Wish I could have got my vinyls signed!
