  1. the setlist was this
    small stakes
    the way we get by
    don't ya eva
    mystery zone
    turn my cam on
    written in rev
    target
    black like me
    never got you
    i summon you
    my math
either a new song or a cover people new the words but it wasn't anything from any of the albums
    underdog
    jonathan fisk

Good show, the biggest problem was the crowd didnt seem to give a shit about spoon. I was 3 people back form teh front and everyone was way more intested in a drunk dude falling over, and crowd surfing people all night. At one point when they were playing black like me everyone was just talk'n on there cellphones it was really fucked. Good show tho probably the worst spoon show i've been 2, but it wasn't spoons fault at all.

Now if they would just fuck'n play metal detketor everything hits at once and chicago at night i'd be a happy man. Honestly spoon seen ya 5 times now and none of those have been played wtf mates

I was sitting in the bleachers, so the crowd didn't spoil the show for me at all. They played great! I feel like they wouldn't give a damn about the crowd anyway (Those assholes were only there for Phoenix and Vampire Weekend). I feel like we are watching them doing a jam session, since they play to each other more so than the crowd. And I consider this to be a good thing; it means that they are always musicians before performers. I love that about Spoon.

The song that you've never heard is called Got Nuffin'. They released it on an EP a few months back, so you could get that at the Spoon store if you were interested. Or you can wait for the new album, since it'll be on there too (I think it'll be a different version, though).

And I know what you mean about them never playing their older stuff. I understand that bands do this simply because they get tired of playing it live, but I would KILL for them to do Metal Detektor live.

I don't remember the order of songs played, but they definitely played Got Nuffin. I'm just assuming that that song was it.

I'm copying and pasting what I said about this show from the Portland thread:

Tonight's show in La Jolla (near San Diego) was crazy. Crowdsurfers during their set! It was definitely an under 21 crowd and as much as I hate having to deal with kids pushing and covering my head from time to time so it doesn't get kicked from a crowdsurfer- at least most of these kids were dancing. As I was leaving i heard some kid say to his friend "spoon was siiiick! I only knew Underdog but damn..."

Again, I had a fucking awesome time watching Spoon at this show- and I'm happy I wasn't in the front/center for this show and just off to the right side instead. I know it sucks when you wanna hear old songs more - hell, I really wanted Everything Hits at Once too (and it's actually on the written setlist too for the encore) but it's a holiday radio show, and radio shows are never the kind of shows to have high expectations on the selection of songs.

I think most of the kids were there for Vampire Weekend for sure. I elbowed the hell out out of the jerks behind me during that set. I was at this show for everyone on the lineup except Manchester Orchestra. That felt like the longest and most dreadful 40 minutes or so of my life wasted. It was really rough for Phoenix, but still fun. I love those guys too. Their songs are so great to hear live.

I have pictures and videos from this show that I'll eventually get to uploading this week and I'll post the links soon.

  6. Crowd was way more for phoenix, they went ape shit for them, vampire they were kinda quiet and the soul claps were a ta minimum. I never really thought about the radio show aspect of it. And ya your right that was got nuffin, that setlist is tottaly teh right order tho, i took it on my iphone during the begining of each song which made shit brutal to not get kicked in the face. I'm moving up to san fran so i hope they do the fillmore again.

I remembered when I saw Spoon in Ft. Lauderdale (we have a shit scene), these guys in front of me didn't know many Spoon songs.

Sorry the audio quality isn't all that great- even though I tried covering up the microphone/speaker part in my digital camera It was still too loud for my camera to handle it.

And for those in attendance- did any of you notice Britt was bleeding at the end of the set? Britt was the last one to leave the stage and I saw that he cut himself somehow on his head...maybe it was his guitar or guitar string?
