"Is This The Last Time" off of the Stay Don't Go EP has to be my new favorite B-side. Anyone hear it?

On an irrelevant note, I was listening to the Get Nice! Bonus cd the other day, and noticed something interesting. In "I Can Feel It Fade Like An AM Single", Britt uses a line that would be used again in "Mystery Zone": "Times that we met/ Before we met". The feel of the song is similar to "Mystery Zone", in my opinion. Perhaps it was the earliest incarnation of "Mystery Zone"? Thoughts?

That's the best line in "Mystery Zone". "Times that we met, before we met"......it stuck out the first time I heard it.
I'll have to have a listen to "Am Single" again...it's been awhile.

Huh. I didn't catch that. He also starts out Mystery Zone with the words, "Picture yourself...", just like The Underdog. That song also repeats past themes on wanting to find/keep that one girl that understands you and settling down together.

Yeah, I noticed that with Mystery Zone/AM Single back when I first heard Mystery Zone played at a Spoon show. I just assumed it was the fully-realized version of AM Single even though they didn't sound anything a like...

Wow, good catch. There's definitely a hazy tension hanging over both songs, though much more optimistically in "The Mystery Zone."

I often sing the beginning of Mystery Zone with the lyrics of The Underdog just for kicks. ("Picture yourself! In your living room! Your pipe and slippers set out for you..." Definitely requires some metric fudging)

As for "Is this the Last Time?" yes I love that B-Side as well. Although I have it on the "Someone Something" 7". I don't have the "Stay Don't Go EP". I love the beat "Oh my, oh my my" love that bit. I love all the filters they use on vocals too. Great song.

I can definitely see the similarities between "AM Single" and "Mystery Zone". The same kind of droning and chords are used in both. I guess you could say that is a type of early demo.
