It's was a good album on the first listen, for me, and it's getting better with every listen. This album exemplifies perfectly what i love about Spoon: they can strive for a different sound and still make an appealing, dynamic record. Hot Thoughts is quickly becoming some of my favorite work of theirs.

I don't know about you guys and gals, but summer is coming up and I am itching to catch a few shows. Ima make the east coast my bitch this summer.

I noticed on the last tour, with a bit more flexibility of the 5 piece, Britt without a guitar is not bad on stage. He's become quite a formidably powerful frontman throughout his time, and is quite engaging and fun to watch. Probably helps that he loves touring.

Agreed! I've had a lot of time the last few days with my headphone (studying for Finals), and I love this album. The new sound of each album takes me a minuet, but the more I listen the more I love it. I'd love to go see them again, haven't seen a live show since Transference. No Portland shows scheduled so far though :/ Last time they only played in Portland for Music Fest Northwest, which has gone way downhill since they moved it to the waterfront. We'll see.

I agree as well! Seeing him be able to concentrate on his vocals and enjoy being able to, shows how comfortable he is with the direction. As a vocalist and guitar player myself, I feel good that someone that inspires me feels the same way I do with being able to express variety of styles. I can't wait to see them again at The Hollywood Bowl with the family!

Could not agree more. This album is very good. I agree with all the sentiments here, definitely a great sounding headphone album. Also forgot to mention how brilliant "Whisper" is. Such great instrumentation. I feel like the whole band shines. A good rocker

The album is growing on me, for sure. But a few songs, like Shotgun, I just can't seem to get into.

I live slightly north of NYC but just bought tickets for the Portland, ME show because summer and lobster and the ocean.

@MorganBell You'll know it's me because I'll still be wearing my "Time to get crackin'!" lobster bib at the show.

Haha! Similarly, for easy recognition, I was thinking of getting a "I'm Tyler Darling from msgboard.spoontheband.com" T shirt made for my next Spoon show.

Hey gang! I found the audio from the SXSW panel where I collared Britt! He comes in for the first time about 14:45... https://www.soundcloud.com/officialsxsw/i-wrote-that-song-ft-will-butler-marshall-crenshaw-britt-daniel-mac-mccaughan-sxsw-music-2015

Yes that is a great panel. It's also on YouTube if you like videos too. I feel like I search spoon on YouTube almost every week just looking for new stuff

Still reeling from last weekend, after I ended up going to the 3 Carolina shows. The sets are tight AF. The set lists are great. They've introduced a few segues and transitions, of sorts, between songs. Britts stage presence is outstanding, Alex is off the chain, the new dude, Gerardo, fits fantastically, and has the rock moves to boot, Jim is on point and ready to mix it up, and Rob is the glue holding it all together. I've also got to say, some of Robs bass lines on the new tunes are fuggin' fantastic, especially on "Whisperi'lllistentohearit".

I got a video, from the 3rd night, of a particular extended intro Alex has been doing. I thought it had a very Floyd prog-esque feel. I'm all about it. Go catch these shows, y'all. They're outstanding. Hopefully this link works.
